I made a lot of notes in my diary as I went along. 21.Bd3 g6 is how my game against Michael Micklethwaite continued but Bill's 21...h6 move has approval from Stockfish. Although the plan of Qg4-g6 like a well known Karpov (v Korchnoi?) game of micro-maneuvering is favoured by SF, I am still level, it's all theory up to here.

After 27...Qc6 SF gives me +4 but I struggled with analysis. Wrongly thinking that 28. Rf3 Nxe5 29. fxe5 Rxf3 was bad for me, sadly not finding the continuation 30. Bxh6 winning. I could not find my way clearly through analysing all the plausible 28th move replies and so, true to form, I seek safety with 28. Rde1 and while still doing ok the right Idea and rather simple was 28. Qg6 with the threat 29. Qh7+ Kf7 30. Bg6+ Ke7 31. Qxg7+ Rf7 32. Qxf7 mate,.

After 35 moves I have a strong interesting and attacking position, but back in the day, I was usually strong in endgames. I let things slip trying to reach one.

After 38 moves I could now play king up, h4 or Bf4 all natural and strong, but I throw away the position with 39. g5 lemon and we agreed a draw.
