Hmmm ... I think I would have not
included the front lamppost cos it doesn't actually add anything to the overall
effect. Maybe a tighter zoom on The Big One would work better?

OK, but the lamppost is
the main subject forming the letter F with the one behind it. I accept your

I was wondering where the 'F'

After six pints I wouldn't be
able to look straight let alone walk between camera and stool - oh for the days
when 12 pints in one night was considered to be a quiet night (I kid you not
folks). This idea of using the self timer is something I have to look at seeing
as I've never tried it at all. Focus shouldn't be a problem but surely with
multi-segment metering getting the exposure right is a bit of a pig. You've done
well anyway.

The sun cast the shaddow
onto the pool bottom which is slightly curved itself. I took it a few years ago
with a Kodak camera (large & heavy job, 4 AA batteries inside it) which I
have no longer. I have used clone tool to remove some insects and leaves which
collected on the bottom of the pool.

Was the sun behind you? And did you use a big zoom? Radders
Posted: 29-Sep-07
Reply
No, the Kodak had only a
minimal zoom which I expect I was using to frame the shot. The pool was about 6
feet deep so pool bottom varies between , say, 13 - 25 feet away. The frizbee
stayed where it was put. Once I framed the shot I just had to pose myself, the
only constraint on this was my right hand of course.

I like the slightly offset
pathway, and it has a lovely timeless feel to it. If the day had been a bit
brighter you could perhaps have increased the depth of field, or you could
perhaps have used manual focus to get the figures sharper? The sharpest thing at
present is the car on the RHS which is a little distracting. But it's a good
composition. Does the ISO level appear in the EXIF data for any of your photos
(I'm off to look now....!)?

I love the composition of this

bright on the LHS, the rest of theshadows and highlights work really well.

Karen is right, the low light

better as the eye is inevititably drawn over there.

Perhaps it needs a kid kicking
